With Colorado Ski Resorts opening as soon as October 13th (Arapahoe Basin), there are many enhancements ski resorts have made for the 2017-2018 ski season! Amongst these enhancements include new restaurants, improved passenger flow, easier access into the Mountains, and mountain roller coasters. Below are the top 5 we’re most excited about:
1. Major Expansion to Labonte Smokehouse at Keystone Resort
Labonte Smokehouse BBQ is an on the mountain restaurant nestled at the base of Keystone’s North Peak. This coveted restaurant by Keystone regulars has big improvements in the books, which will expand the restaurant to five times the size. It previously boasted its outdoor patio dining that had a beach-hangout theme. This season it will debut a much needed 150-seat indoor facility that will be able to hold more guests all while maintaining its same unique beach-hangout environment.
2. Improved Lifts at Keystone and Breckenridge
Keystone and Breckenridge are both making improvements to their chairlifts. At Keystone, the Montezuma Express Lift on Dercum Mountain will now have the capacity to hold six passengers to improve the flow of passengers on and off the mountain. Breckenridge’s Falcon Super Chair on Peak 10 will also be a six-person capacity chair to also increase efficiency with traffic on the mountain.
3. Three New Restaurants at Copper Mountain
Copper Mountain is adding three new restaurants to its already impressive collection of dining options. These restaurants will be located at Copper Mountain’s Center Village and are expected to drive a lot of new traffic. The restaurants are:
- Downhill Dukes is a dog-friendly spot to relax with good music, tasty food and even better views on the outdoor patio.
- Toast & Co. will be a great spot to eat a nourishing breakfast and drink an energizing cup of coffee before a fun-filled day at the slopes.
- Ten Mile Tavern will be open for lunch and dinner and will have all of America’s favorite comfort food. It will also have a copper-finished bar
4. Easier Transportation from Denver to Winter Park Resort
Winter Park skiers and snowboarders will be able to get to Winter Park Resort much easier this winter aboard the Winter Park Express. Those who are in town can now just jump on the Winter Park Express train from Denver Union Station and ride it all the way to Winter Park. Those who are out of town can take the new commuter rail line from DIA to Union Station, and then hop on the Winter Park Express just as easily. Out of town guests can now easily explore downtown Denver and then hit the slopes at Winter Park in one trip.
5. Four New Mountain Coasters
Four new thrilling mountain coasters will be added to Colorado Ski Country. These mountain coasters will be located at Snowmass, Steamboat Springs, Copper Mountain and Purgatory. The mountain coasters will feature fierce drops and will wind through the beautiful mountain terrain. An additional perk is that they will run all year long.
As if Colorado Ski Country was not already one of the most popular winter destinations, these new enhancements for the 2017-2018 Ski Season will only make it that much more popular. Colorado Ski Resorts are working hard to keep guests excited and entertained for the ski season.
